Connecting Your Site to CodeGuard

Once you have ordered your CodeGuard service and have successfully logged into their admin panel, the first thing you will need to do is connect your site to the backup system.

To do this, you will need to enter your cPanel username and password, and using the hostname of ftp.yourdomain.com, where you replace yourdomain.com with your own domain name. You can find your cPanel login details in your hosting account welcome email.

We recommend that you connect using SFTP, and in doing so you will need to have SSH access enabled. Contact us to help you with that.

You can enter a custom port by clicking the "Using a different port?" link on their setup page. 

Once entered, press Test Your Connection. This will validate the connection details are correct. If you have any issues here you can contact our support for assistance, otherwise, assuming the test works ok you may click "Connect Your Web Site" to start the backup process.

Once the connection is established and verified to be working, on the next screen you will get a directory listing of what CodeGuard has found once it has logged in and accessed the server. This will look as follows:

Your Kualo web site files will generally be stored in public_html, so we recommend that you back up this directory. The other directories above this are system folders and don't need to be backed up to CodeGuard - in fact, doing so will probably inundate you with change alerts as these folders will change on a daily basis. One of the advantages of CodeGuard is that it alerts you when your site files change - so you are best to select only these files specifically. We recommend looking through the sub folders and excluding any directories that are marked 'cache' or similar.
