How to Use Resource Boosts in cPanel
Our Boost feature, accessible directly from your cPanel, provides a powerful way for you to instantly ramp up server resources. Whether you're dealing with a sudden surge in visitors or tackling resource-heavy tasks, the Boost plugin empowers you to handle it all seamlessly—without committing to a permanent plan upgrade.
Key Benefits of Using the Boost Plugin
- Seize the Moment During Traffic Spikes: Effortlessly scale up your resources to manage high traffic volumes during viral blog posts or flash sales. Keep your site performing smoothly when it matters most.
- Empower Your Projects: Give your projects the muscle they need, from testing new features to crunching big data. Boost ensures you have the power to push boundaries and achieve breakthrough performance.
- No Cost: Why pay for extra resources you only occasionally need? Boost offers a free and flexible approach to increasing your resources on-demand for up to 72 hours per month.
- Bypass Inode Limits: Ever hit a wall with inode limits? Boost not only enhances your server's CPU, RAM, and I/O rates but also expands your inode capacity, allowing you headroom to reduce your file count whilst you consider a permanent upgrade.
How to Use the Boost Feature
Boost can be activated directly by you via the Resource Boost cPanel plugin. This self-service approach empowers you and reduces the need for support intervention.
How to Activate Boost
- Open the Boost Plugin: Navigate to the Boost section in your cPanel.
- Review Current and Boosted Resources: The dashboard will show your current resource limits and the enhanced capabilities available with Boost.

- Activate Boost: Click on "Enable Boost" button.
Use the slider to specify how long you’d like to enable the boost for and then click Activate Now.
Turning Off Boost Early
If you find you no longer need the extra resources, you can stop the boost immediately by clicking the "Disable Boost" button, returning your settings to normal.

When to Consider a Permanent Upgrade
While Boost is fantastic for short-term needs, if you're regularly maxing out your resources, it might be time to scale up permanently. Regularly hitting limits? Consider talking to our support team about upgrading your plan for peace of mind and sustained performance.
Optimising Your Usage
- Implement Advanced Caching: Use solutions like LiteSpeed Cache or Redis to minimise resource drain.
- Optimise Your Setup: Reduce overhead by decluttering your site of unused plugins and optimising scripts.
- Regular Monitoring: Understand and monitor your resource usage via cPanel to gauge when you might need to activate Boost or even consider a plan upgrade.
Boost is designed as a stopgap to help manage temporary or unexpected spikes in demand or to give you breathing room while you implement longer-term optimisations or plan upgrades. By understanding how and when to use the Boost plugin effectively, you can ensure that your site remains robust, responsive, and ready to handle whatever demands come its way.
