How to transfer your domains to Kualo
You might want to transfer your existing domain name(s) to Kualo so that you can manage your hosting and domains in one place, without the need to have to deal with multiple companies. Although it is pretty straightforward process, there are a few key points that you should be aware of to make the transfer as smooth as possible.
Before you begin, you need to ascertain your domain's extension (the last part of the domain name). Common domain extensions include '.co.uk', '.com', '.net', '.org'.
.uk domains:
Please note if your domain name ends in '.uk', then the process is extremely simply and there is no charge to initiate a transfer. You will only be billed when the domain is up for renewal, whenever this may be - if you are transferring in an expired domain or one within 10 days of expirying, we will invoice you for renewal within 24 hours of your transfer completing.
To get started, simply initiate a transfer of the domain into your account by visiting www.kualo.com/domains and click into the domain transfer page. Complete the process of adding your domain name to your account. You will receive an additional automated email letting you know there is one final step. You will need to contact your old registrar and request they change the IPS tag. Most registrars will have an online interface you can go through to update these details. If yours does not, please contact their support team to assist you. You will need to change the IPS tag to "KUALO" (case sensitive). The process should not take more than a few hours from when the IPS tag is changed, and you will receive a confirmation email of the transfer
Other Extensions:
1) Ensure that your domain is unlocked at the current registrar.
2) Ensure that the administrative contact email address associated with the domain is current and you're able to receive email to it
3) Remove any domain privacy protection feature with your existing registrar, as these often prevent you from receiving the confirmation email that you need to click a link within to trigger the transfer
4) Obtain the domain's EPP transfer key/code from the existing registrar
Once you have completed these steps, you can initiate a transfer of the domain into your account by visiting www.kualo.com/domains.
1) Add your domain name and click on Search
2) After you will be redirected to a new page where you will see a list of domain names similar to yours but with different extensions. Next to your domain you will see a Transfer button, click on it, and then click on Continue to Cart.
3) On the Domains configuration page, you will be able to add your EPP/ Authorization code and decide whether to your keep your default nameserver for your hosting or change them to your Kualo ones or any other custom name servers.
4) Once you click on Next you will be redirected to the checkout where you can complete the order.
Please, make sure any name server changes are done before the transfer is approved, otherwise you will need to wait until the transfer is complete. Once the approval link has been clicked, the request is sent through to the existing registrar and registry for processing, which generally takes up to 7-10 business days to complete.
Please note: The domain name must be active. We cannot transfer expired domains. We recommend initiating the transfer process a minimum of two (2) weeks before the domain expires to ensure it completes on time. Also, please note that most registrars have a 60 day hold period. This means any domains newly registered or transferred in must remain with that registrar for at least 60 days.
Finally, please note that as of January 1st, 2014 transfers of many domain extensions (not including .uk domains) will require you to additionally confirm your domain ownership within 15 days of a transfer by clicking a link in an additional email that will be sent to you. This is known as the new 'RAA Verification Procedure', and you can read more about the process here. Note that if you do not complete this final step, your domain registration will be suspended by the domain registry itself. Related Articles How to enable PHP error logging in cPanel
