What to Do After Registering a Domain

🎉 You’ve Got a Domain – Now What?

Your new domain is registered, and now the fun begins! There are a few things you can do next, depending on how you plan to use it. Let’s break it down:

1️⃣ If You Need Hosting

Your domain is like a digital street address, but you still need a place to put your website. If you don’t have a hosting plan yet, you can:

Get a hosting plan from Kualo – Check out our hosting options and pick the one that best suits your needs.
Point your domain elsewhere – If you’re using another provider, you can update your domain’s nameservers to point it to the right place.

2️⃣ If You Already Have Hosting

If you registered a new domain and you already have a hosting account you'd like to use it with, you might want to:

Add it as an Alias (Parked Domain) – If this domain is just another name for your existing site, you can add it to your hosting plan as an alias. This also allows you to use it for new email addresses or set up domain-level redirects so that visitors to this domain are automatically sent to another site or URL of your choice.
Add it as an Addon Domain – If you want to create a separate website using this domain, you can set it up as an Addon Domain, if your hosting plan supports it (Startup and higher). Not sure if it's the right move? Check out our article on when to use Addon Domains and when to rethink them.
Set up a new hosting account – If you're a reseller or have your own server, you may want to create a separate hosting account for this domain, whether for a client or a specific project.

3️⃣ If You Only Need DNS Management

If you don’t have a hosting plan but need to manage DNS records, we can create a DNS zone for you. Simply reach out to our support team, and we’ll set it up for you.

If you do have a hosting plan, the best way to manage your domain’s DNS is by adding it as an Alias in your hosting plan. This will allow you to edit DNS records directly from your control panel without needing additional setup.
