WildCard subdomains (same as WildCard DNS) allow you to point all the subdomains (existing and non-existing) to a specific file folder in your cPanel account.
It means that if you enter any subdomain in your browser (for example, test.domain1.com – which does not existing, or forum.domain1.com – existing) it will show the same content that you uploaded to the file folder for the WildCard subdomain.
This feature may be necessary for a multisite web applications or if you want the subdomains to show the same content as the main website.
It is available only for domains which DNS is hosted with us (pointed to our NameServers). Please refer to Updating Nameservers at Kualo if your domain is registered with us.
A WildCard subdomain is specified by using an "*" as the part of a domain name, e.g. *.domain1.com
In order to create a WildCard subdomain, follow the steps:
Step 1: Login to cPanel
Step 2: Navigate to Subdomains under the Domains section:
Step 3: Create a subdomain ‘*’ pointing it to the necessary file folder (you will need to specify the path in the field Document Root)
That's it! Your WildCard subdomain will need 1 to 4 hours to propagate throughout the Internet. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further information.
